I have backed up a database from one development environment to another development environment.

I have already corrected the orphaned user problem that occurs when backing up a database from one server to another.

I am trying to set the database access permissions in the login properties.

when I select permit for the database and check 'public' and 'db_owner' and click ok, I get the following error message:

Error 21002: [SQL-DMO]User 'login_name' already exists.

My application successfully connects to the database using the login name. I'm confused why the login properties are not checked selected accurately?

For the section "Specify which databases can be accessed by this login" under the login properties there isn't a check by the database?

Nor, is there a check under the Database Roles for 'db_owner' for the database.

When I try and make those selections and click ok, is when I get the above error message.

Not sure what is happening.

Can anyone help?
