I can't get the search to find all occurrences of pythagorus or pythagoras. I did separate searches for each spelling and got 0 hits and 2 hits respectively:

http://sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=37410&SearchTerms=pythagoras
http://sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=70781&SearchTerms=pythagoras

and it did not find:

http://sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=53132&SearchTerms=pythagoras,pythagorus
http://sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=71621&SearchTerms=pythagoras,pythagorus
http://sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=30843&SearchTerms=pythagoras,pythagorus

which I got from Google etc., and quite possibly missed some other others

none of them is the thread that I remember where someone kindly posted some fairly quantitative data about why Pythagoras was sufficient for "Nearest store" to within a mile or two, and that Great Circle was overkill and a lot more CPU cycles too of course
