catcat writes "Hi All,

Our MSSQL 2000 server crashed yesterday and one database cannot be restored. the latest backup we have is june. We can only recover the MDF file from the harddisk and according to our admin, it cannot be restored anymore because no proper shutdown was made.

Will appreciate your help here."

Call Microsoft Support to ask if they can help you with the MDF.

Setup proper backups so this doesn't happen again.

If you get rid of the LDF you may be able to use single-file-attach to re-attach the MDF file.

http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=55210&SearchTerms=single%20file%20attach,sp_attach_single_file_db

NOTE: Keep separate copies of LDF and MDF before you attempt any recovery, you won;t get a second chance otherwise!
