Hello,

I am asking this question here, because it appears that I don't get as fast a response in reporting services as I do on this forum.

I am trying to add an extra parameter in a report title called SummaryBy.Value

Here is my current code:

="BY " & UCase(Parameters!SummaryBy.Value & IIF(Parameters!SummaryBy2.Value<>"", " / " & Parameters!SummaryBy3.Value,""))

If I add the extra parameter I get an error because of the IIf. How do I get around this to display all three parameters?

Please let me leave this post here also. I need to get an answer asap.

TIA and have a great day!

Kurt

Allow me to explain to you why you have not had a response and what your problem is.

Reporting Services is something that Satan made for a laugh. It is as evil as it is useless. Find a better tool for you solution or make your own. Microsoft have some work to do before anyone will ever commit the Reporting Services to any noticeable degree. It really is a pile of poo. Thankfully that is not the case with Analysis Services!

Me: OK, that's great. That's all I need to know. I'll see you when it's done.

Your reply is not appreciated!

If you don't have anything constructive to say then don't say it!

Thanks for wasting my time.

I also posted this in Reporting Services FYI.

Kd, you might want to post the reply here when you get one. We would appreciate it. Also, post Reporting Services questions in the reporting services category. There are more people watching that category than this one.

Also, ignore coolerbob. He's a little bitter from his time fighting the great conquerors when William of Normandy invaded. We're all hoping he gets over it sometime in the next century.

Hello Derrick,

Yeah he must still be bitter. Thanks for the explanation. lol

Here is something that I am trying to sort out at the moment that may help this problem:

=IIf(Parameters!SummaryBy.Value, " / " iff(Parameters!SummaryBy2.Value, " / " iif(Parameters!SummaryBy3.Value, "")))

However, I still get an error message. I know that the IIf statement has to do with Conditional Formatting. Does anyone have any suggestions?

TIA

Kurt

Hello Derrick and Everyone,

Regis the final answer is:

="BY " & UCase(Parameters!SummaryBy.Value & IIf(Parameters!SummaryBy2.Value <> "", " / " & Parameters!SummaryBy2.Value, "") & IIf( Parameters!SummaryBy3.Value <> "", " / " & Parameters!SummaryBy3.Value, ""))

This works beautifully!

Have a great day everyone.

coolerbob get over the invastion!

When you work for a company you work with what they give you. In my case it is Reporting Services!

Or you give them the sound technical reasons why Reporting Services is not an extensible solution for their business needs...

Most good developers can write a better reporting tool in a matter of weeks - one that actually meets the unique and custom requirements of the business. I was not being antagonistic. I was trying to save you some time. But it's your decision.
