Hi All,
I have successfully installed MSSQL server 2005 on virtual machine running on XPSP2. No error messages were shown durring the installation. Still I do not see it working at all. There are no services insltalled for the SQL Server and it can not be accessed by any other applications.
If anyone has an idea why this is happening, please help?!

Thanks,
Georgi

I'd say if there are no services installed in the virtual machine, you have

1) Installed SQL Server on the host operating system
2) Did not pay enough attention to the installation screens

Hi,
1) It is impossible to install the server on the host operation system, because it has already installed MSSQL Server express and it is operational.
2) I have used all default values for the installation... Still, is there a chance at all to install the server whithout having services installed also?

Thanks,
Georgi

Yes. If you selected to install only client tools.

Yes,
Thanks a lot. This was the problem, and most of all, the reason was that SQL server was Enterprise edition, which is not supported for XP, and only client tools can be installed.

Thanks,
Georgi

See point 2 in my first response.
I am happy you got to the root of this problem.
Install Developer Edition. It is supported on XP.
