Anybody have luck with this?
It fails everytime on Database services?
in other words, we have two nodes 1 and 2 clustered.
I am installing SQL SP1 on Node 1, but it keeps failing.
No clue why?

Yes we have sp1 installed on SQL Server 2005 in a cluster environment in production. Our cluster has 4 nodes. We didn't have any issues installing it on any of the 11 instances. Once you get it working, make sure to also install it on the other node otherwise the client tools don't get updated, which means no database mirroring.

Hi Tara, thanks for the input, but the database services is the main place where it does not apply the sql service pack to?

It applies it to both the server and the client. The main part is the server. sp1 should be installed on all machines where the client tools are installed also.

pardon my pain, but do I understand that the SQL SP1 needs to be applied individually to both?
But still why would it fail on the active node? do both nodes need to be active?

Yes it needs to be applied to both nodes.

You haven't posted an error, so it's hard to help.

Hi Tara,
Figured out the problem.
I had used Remote Desktop with local admin account to run the install. Once I used the Domain Admin's account, it completed without any hassles.
Thank you for your patience...
