Hemanth writes "HI,

MY DOUBT IS,WE CAN SHUTDOWN THE REMOTE SERVER(IN WHICH WINDOWS SERVER 2003 IS THE OS)BY LOGINING INTO IT AS AN USER OR NOT? OTHERWISE ONLY ADMIN CANDO IT?

BECAUSE WHEN I AM USING A REMOTE SERVER TO DO OPERATIONS ON IT,ALWAYS THEY SAY DONT SHUTDOWN IT ONLY LOGOFF IT.
BUT MY DOUBT IS HOW CAN A USER LOG OFF A MACHINE ON WHICH SEREVR EDITION OS INSTALLED.SO EVEN A USER TRY TO SHUTDOWN IT,HE WILL GET ERROR THAT ONLY ADMINISTARTOR CAN DO THIS.
I HAVEN'T TRIED THIS.BUT I AM CONFIDENT THAT WE CAN NOT SHUTDOWN THAT.SO PLEASE CLARIFY ME?

THANKS,
HEMANTH."

If you are referring to how to administer sql server then you could use sqlcmd -A.

If you are referring to deny ordinary users to shutdown the server, then:
1. Ordinary users should nod be allowed to logon to the server.
2. You can deny the users to do almost anything thought gpo.
