I work in the computer firm which offer hardware and software for the customers. A few moonths ago we decidec to create webshop in which any of our customers could buy any of our products. Creating this kind of shop is very hard but we do uor best. Of course we have some problems and one problem is making my nights unsleep:) so i decided to ask You, as a proffesional specialist. I am very sorry if i disturb Your time, but You are one of my last change to get advise:)))

well so far....all you've given us is your background....post the problem and/or a brief description and you might get lucky with a solution somewhere around here.....
the success rate of this site i'd say is quite high....looking back over articles posted...very few have 0 replies.
Attention graz...it'd be interesting to see how long questions posted around this site take to get a) an initial response, and b) a working solution....any stats? any possibility of same?

Interesting question. I'll look into it. Although I'm just not even going to make a stab at the working solution part.

Graz,
We know it isn't necessarily accurate, but what about time to LAST answer? We could assume there won't be too many extraneous replies after a working solution was found (although there was that one 90-post cursors/beer world-record discussion)...

re identifying a working solution.....maybe those posting queries, could indicate the point at which their problem has been solved. Then stats could be measured from there.
If people don't come back to the website to close an issue, then maybe an e-mail reminding them of it's existance (after an appropriate delay) will draw them back into the arena. After all it'd be good for the reputation of this place to have more punters going away with problems solved.
And showing concern (even via an automated response) that issues get solved will go some way to that goal.

Andrew, I LIKE that idea. I don't know exactly how to implement it though. We'll have to keep noodling on it.
Ok, on to some stats.
In June 2001 there were 718 new topics posted in the forums. Some came from Ask SQLTeam some were member posts. 634 of these got some type of reply. That's 88.3% and I think it's pretty good considering we get some weird questions now and then :)
Of that 718, 401 were responded to within 60 minutes. Thats 55.8% of the time something shows up in the forum it gets a response within 60 minutes. 69.3% of the posts get a response within 3 hours and 77.0% get a response within 8 hours.
Pretty damn good I'd have to say!
The numbers for all of 2001 will be skewed since there are July posts that haven't been responded to yet. But, here they are anyway.
82.5% of posts have gotten a response. That 3,805 topics out of 4,612 topics. 42.7% get responded to within an hour. 56.6% get reponded to within 3 hours and 65.8% get a response within 8 hours.
So does that answer your question :)

I know I like chinese food....but noodles aren't my cup of tea...not that i like that either....but I await your deliberations.
re the stats....those numbers are close to what I would have thought they would be....especially given some of the time difference zones people are working ....
mind you...merkin, nr and robvolk....seem to be trekkies...as time and space seem to have no limit on them....and that's not an invitation for a diversionary discussion!!!
re the stats...some monthly sets, accessible from the home page...or e-mailed to your subscriber list, should show the prowess of this site. nothing draws viewers (and advertisers when you need to get a few more bucks for the running costs) more than success stories.
It's a great site....just shout louder about it!!!

Maybe our new marketing phrase should be:
SQLTeam.com: Answering 88.3% of your questions!
:)
Interesting ideas all.
Oh and the time to last answer was over 500 hours in all cases.

I think Merkin, Volk, and NR have not only warped time and space but reality as well.

Do you think there would be a way of examining the contents of posts to see who is posting the least proportion of SQL related answers?
Also, at what point do you never need to post a question again?
Have nr, robvolk, Merkin etc. ever had to post a question rather than an answer???
