From time to time newbie DBA-s or network admins who have hazy ideas about what makes a SQL Server tick, think that there is a magic setting which speeds up a sluggish server! Some of the db option or server settings!
Along this line, using schemas in one database as opposed to several databases or this one: table ALIAS!
Face it now: BAD CODE, MISSING INDEX, FRAGMENTED INDEX, etc. are the real culprit for server misery!
This is not witchcraft, this is science!

From time to time newbie posters jump on a thread and post generic platitudes that they consider the height of wisdom without taking the time to read what other people have posted or figure out what the discussion is about. This is clueless!

Kalman, are you planning to start using this forum for spamming your CDs as you have been doing on this forum: http://sqlforums.windowsitpro.com/web/forum/messageview.aspx?catid=257&threadid=84711&highlight_key=y I liked this quote from a different thread:
quote: This is a typical sqlusa thread. Everyone else does all the work, and then he tries to swoop in and get the glory, without actually saying anything meaningful. And he gets his post count up to try to fool newbies into thinking that he actually knows what he's talking about, not to mention the callous abuse of unsolicited advertising. Really pathetic.
And this must be the post where you found out about sqlteam.com? http://sqlforums.windowsitpro.com/web/forum/messageview.aspx?catid=74&threadid=84956&highlight_key=y
You will find that the people here are not noobs, but highly trained professionals with very finely tuned B.S. detectors. You are not going to get good google hits here.

You need to calm down. What's all investigative activity for?! If you want to discredit his "opinion" then do it here but providing links to other communities where people might hold his "opinions" in his regard is plain wrong.
I know there is a lot of good knowledge to be gained here but I can't help feel that there is some form of SQLTeam gang culture on this site. It's probably what keeps me away from contributing to questions and stick to asking them only.

Antonio, let me ask you one question. When you ask a question (here or elsewhere), you do count on the answer is accurate, right?
What we have found out, is that SQLUSA is almost never accurate and all answers are links to his site where the first thing you see is an ad "Buy this 1600 dollar, 21 disc, education package and you will be a professional DBA earning a minimium of 60K-80K per year". His answers are often to general to be helpful.
Ok, I lied. I have to ask you one more question Antonio, look at this topic http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=80639quote: Posted by SQL USA
USE AdventureWorks;
GO
SELECT VendorID, [164] AS Emp1, [198] AS Emp2, [223] AS Emp3, [231] AS Emp4, [233] AS Emp5
FROM
(SELECT PurchaseOrderID, EmployeeID, VendorID
FROM Purchasing.PurchaseOrderHeader) p
PIVOT
(
COUNT (PurchaseOrderID)
FOR EmployeeID IN
( [164], [198], [223], [231], [233] )
) AS pvt
ORDER BY VendorID
Would you like your specific question be answered with some code copied directly from Books Online (AdventureWorks database), having nothing to do with your problem?
We don't mind him being here! He has a LOT to learn. All we want is that the unsolicited advertising ends.
But he does not get it.

Of course....

LOL... yes I did visit his site.... My conclusion is that he's a WUM at best.

Which is why my suggestion is to ignore him/her.
Anyway Peso, I don't think it's healthy to spend too much time talking about a WUM. I only posted my opinion because I don't think its right to bring other forums in to this. Rip him to bits on here but linking to other SQL forums to discredit him is going to far IMHO.

That's your opinion, Antonio. But most of us heavy posters on here also frequent other forums. I see no reason why misbehavior on other forums should not be pointed out.

And no - I would not describe SQLUSA as a WUM. WUMs wind people up but not everyone that winds people upo is a WUM. |

Wind Up Merchant? That leaves me nearly as clueless as WUM.

Averaging 1.84 ppd is heavy posting?!
BTW, noticed that you live in Delaware. I have an uncle who lives there. Nice place apparently.
