Hi All,

When i am going to install SQL Server 2005, its coming error "provide unique instance name".

The error is coming on "SQL Server Database Service".

All the service get installed with out any error.

I have select "default instance".

Please help me to resolve this issue.

It seems that you already have a SQL Server installed as default instance. Install your SQL Server as a named instance.

but can u tell me, that how to remove default instance?????
i dont want to install SQL Server as a named instance.

For that, i have unistall sql server 2005 also, but again when iam going to install, it gives the same error as per my previous post.

Please help me.

Go to control panel and look for any installation of SQL Server and uninstall it

Hello KH.

I have tried this option also.
but when iam going to install it, its coming the same error.
any other solution is there?
please guide me, because from last two day iam get stuck at it.

Check Control Panel for any existing installation of SQL Server if not, maybe this will help http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290991
