SQL 2000 std installed SP4 - cannot open SQL on server - error could not redo log record - model database. cannot load enterprise manager or query analyzer to try and resolve error.

have tried to repair sql by loading 2000 cdrom but only asks if you wish to repair registry hive - have done so and rebooted server - still cannot open SQL

Please advise

Does model db's log file still exist? Try copy that file from other sql2k sp4 servers and restart sql.

Might be worth re-posting (please include a link to this thread) in:

I suspect you could reinstall and then ATTACH the databases, but that's going to be cold-comfort if you have a lot of Objects in MASTER. If you don't then its maybe worth considering a "server rebuild"
