| I have a few machines set in a workgroup which I want to use for testing SQL Server but I don't seem to be able to connect to an instance from a peer client. I can ping the machine and removed the firewall and can remote desktop.any advice, thanks |

| Got any error? Is sql server browser service running on sql server? Enabled tcp/ip or named pipes on the server? |

| Thanks for the reply. I found the answer, being that both servers are running on XP I had to open Port 1433 and then connected fine. |
