I was helping someone yesterday quite extensively on an issue, I came on this morning to check status of the issue but now it appears the thread was deleted. What I also notice is that all my responses where also dropped and thus my post count went down by about 6. Is this normal, if the OP deletes do the posts just go away with it?

Also, I notice that ALL my posts after 10 PM yesterday are no longer showing in my non-archived posts nor in my post count. That's why I thought the posts where deleted, but they are still there, just not associated to me any longer.

For example, this thread is missing from my non-archived posts http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=89162, and this one http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=89186 and this http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=89180. I think there are more as well.

When you say "missing my non-archived posts" does that mean it isn't counting those posts against your post count?

Yes, and also it is not displaying those posts when I click on view non-archived posts for my username. I noticed my post count was down first, then I was clicking on my non-archived posts to look for responses to my posts yesterday and realized they were not there.

I see all of those listed when I click on your "view non-archived posts" link ... you did notice that there are 6 pages of your posts, right?

I am aware of that, these threads are NOT listed for 9/10 (or 9/11, I checked based on time differences), this is what I show for 9/10:

Ah. The posts in that result set are sorted by forum. For example, thread 89162 is on page 4 of that list.

Those pages are sorted by forum first, and then topic. go to pages 3-6 of your post listing, you will see plenty of posts from 9/10 and 9/11.

Plus the date that is showing is the last post date by anyone and not the date you posted in that thread.

Ahh, I see what you mean, I didn't realize the order was by forum. Sorry about that, I still am a bit confused on the post count, I was certain I had more posts when before I logged off yesterday! That's not a big deal though, I am more concerned with being able to see what I posted recently, makes it easier to respond.

Thanks,
-Rick.

Rick,

If you click on the Active Topics link it will show you all active posts since you last visited. Any topic you've posted in will be bolded.

If you click on the little pink and yellow folder just to the left of the word "topic" in the header of the grid it will reset the active topic list.

You can reset your active topics to automatically refresh every 5 or 10 minutes or so.

That's how I do it.

-Bill

As Graz said, but:

I use the Active Topics, work down the list using Open in new window (well, actually I drag the link to my second Browser Window), when I've done them I click on the "pink and yellow folder" icon. When there are no new items listed I go and do something else, and then come back later and refresh by clicking the "Active Topics" link again.

I appreciate the tips, I use active as well, I didn't know about the bold case (that helps). Thanks all!

if you ask me the "topic you participated in is in bold" is a killer forum feature.
i haven't see that one anywhere yet.

Agreed. I forget who asked for it, but I do remember it was definitely a user request and Graz quickly customized the software to do it. Made a HUGE difference ....

Yes, and you really don't ever want to see the query I hacked up to display it.

i imagine one case when in the select would suffice.

Not really. Topics and replies are in separate tables. That's one of the things that makes the forums fast. It's really just a CASE with an EXISTS calling a SELECT in the replies table. It just looks very ungainly.
