Well having a baby can get really expensive, so I thought I would ask the pro's who already have kids as well as those who might have just had a kid recently(tara :)).

Are there any sites or offers on free similiac or diapers LOL...seriously this stuff is getting expensive. We did sign up on the similiac site and got a couple free containers of similiac advanced baby formula...

Tara where do you get your stuff from? Do you know of any other offers out there? How about stores where are some good bargains? Feel free to jump in and give ideas about where to get good priced / freebies for the new one!

Jon

I don't have much information about formula due to breastfeeding.

My husband recently bought diapers from diapers.com since he had a coupon. We'd probably order from them again since it's convenient and you can buy in bulk.

We've heard that Babies R Us is cheapest for diapers and formula, which is surprising since it's pretty expensive for all of their other products. My mom said it's probably to draw you into the store to buy other (expensive) things.

Today I've been on the phone trying to find child care for him starting in mid-April. Now I knew it would be expensive for an infant, but Kindercare is outrageous! They charge $320 per week flat rate, so it doesn't matter if you only need part-time. Luckily other places aren't as pricey.

O ouch that is expensive, my sister is paying 400 but thats for 2 kids...My wife is doing breastfeeding as well as formula, kind of both depending on things...So was hoping on some good deals...
We have a Sams Club that seems to be good priced but its mainly very large quantities, I guess that isnt too bad as we need lots of diapers.

Thanks for the tips though..and I feel your pain on babies r us..what a monopoly lol.

Thanks,
Jon

Not sure about a referral code, my husband took care of it. I'm in charge of feeding, he's in charge of diapers. It's sweet to have a husband who can work from home most of the time!

Is that per week or month? Kindercare is 320 per week for infants, yikes!

I would have thought child care was cheaper where you were located, which is why I asked if it was per week or month.

I've heard that it is super expensive in Southern California. For part-time care (3 days per week, 6 hours per day), I'm looking at $100 per week for him. I've heard that it's about $35 per day for full-time care here.

Back in the day Michigan was very affordable..definately things have changed. If you havent noticed we've been ranked #1 in the following:

Worst Economy
Most Misreable City (past 2 years)
The worst in jobs
Gas prices

And things dont look to be changing anytime soon..what a dead end I gotta move outta here!

A good way to save some cash would be to invest in cloth diapers. All my wives friends swear by them.

Agreed that it would save a ton of money, but yuck if you clean them yourself!

eeeewwwwwwww........

After a baby you get used to doing without things you used to have. Like money, sleep, and care for your personal appearance. Formula is super expensive. My daughter had to use the most expensive kind due to a reflux issue..Nutramogen (not spelled right). It was so expensive, we actually got WIC checks to help cover the costs.

Yikes. Nutramigen 1 and Nutramigen 2 sells for about $45 per pound here in Sweden ($100 per kg).

Yeah....it would have cost us a small fortune every month. We actually were in the doc's office one day and the sales rep was there that day. He overhead our discussion about the nutramigen and gave us two full cases (about 2 weeks worth LOL).

Sometimes you can ask the pediatrician for free samples of stuff and get lucky. We sure did, on getting freebies AND the state help. It wasn't a matter of our income, it was the fact that at (at the time ) $40 bucks a can, minimum 1 can per day...adds up quick!
