Hello ,i am a master student and i am making a seminar about high volume DB performance problems ,example : if i have a table with length of 1000000 record and this length is growing exponentially by the time,what the problems may i face in insertion ,deletion , search,in such table?? and what the problems in processing such DB in general |

well with proper indexing growth isn't much of a problem search wise.your backups can get large, index maintainance gets longer and longer.you can solve this with horizontal partitioning of the table based on a date or some other value.inserts, updates and deletes can cause significant page splits so you have to rebuild or defragment your indexes probably on a daily basis.of course all of the above depends on the specific case._______________________________________________Causing trouble since 1980blog: http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/mladenpSSMS Add-in that does a few things: www.ssmstoolspack.com |
