In our production , sql 2008 installed and databases are running on vmware vm. I have databse having table which has almost reached 2 TB physical disk allocated. I want to copy this database to
my DR site which is Azure cloud . but Azure has disk size of 1 TB only . what i can do here , suggest plz.

can i span the database on VM to multiple filegroups into 1 TeraByte and backup each file and export to Dr Site which has 1 TB disk.
or any option to split database or file ?

Please suggest!

See here: http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/azure-subscription-service-limits/#storagelimits

You'll have to buy more space.

Hi Gbritton, the h/w sizing done already, hence increasing size not feasible now. looking for alternate options ..

How about splitting database and disk and migrating to Azure ? if so please explain how to do it.

thanks!
