Hi all,

I'm getting below error, while sending mail through Database mail (SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition, SP3-64 bit). Can any help me to resolve this.

The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2015-04-24T10:21:35). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Failure sending mail.).

I've configured the database mail by below details.

SMTP Server name : smtp.gmail.com
Port number : 465
We have enabled secure connection(SSL)
User name : My gmail id
Password : My gmail password

Can you confirm the SMTP server works independant of SQL Server? Is the recipient address valid?

Yes..,recipient address is valid only. For testing purpose, recipient address also my gamil account only.

Dear Javeed,

I've tried with 587 still the problem is there, also 587 for TSL right? But our SQL Server require SSL, still can we use 587 port?

To rule out any SQL Server issues - have you tried to send the email via a powershell script. Do you still get the error message? Use this script from the same server as the database server - http://www.sqlserver-dba.com/2012/01/sql-server-send-email-using-powershell.html

what about the email address configured to send emails to your email id? Is it configured in the mail server?

Port 587 is correct.
I also had to change the gmail security setting:
