Just since 10/09/2002, but I had been reading this site for quite some time before that.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

Old enough to not use decimal for my age.
Old enough to have used punch cards (once).
Old enough to think Britney looked good as a schoolgirl.
Old enough to remember when every project was like government contract (bottomless cash pit).
Old enough to remember when you didn't have a hope of getting anything working without a couple of years of training.
Old enough to know that it's better to know a few things well rather than a lot of things poorly.
Old enough to know that you actually need to use less than 50% of a product.

Remember buying my first PC - without a mouse because I didn't think windows would take off.
Also went for ingres because it was a lot better than oracle and would probably put it out of business.

Got a few things right though.

Well my, Congrats to Nigel as well...

Your advice has been extremely valuable, a true veteran.

Do you remember the dual floppy no hard drive 250k memory 8086's? With the Green Screens? Do you know what a Wang is? (Crespo24 don't even...), Do recall VM and Office Vision/PROFS?

Ah the good old days...

PDP 11's wow, we had an 8e, remeber the TTY's that were 10 cps, and the yellow "tape" that let you save your program as hole puches? Then the DEC Writer came in at a BLAZING 30 cps.

Holy Smokes! That's where I learned to code .. on an old PDP 11/40 ... coding in BASIC! Woo hoo! Then I saved up my money and bought an Atari 400. Complete with a cassette tape player for backup. Oh those days playing Frogger and Archon.

And yet, you didn't mention the greatest Atari computer game ever:

SCRAM: The Nuclear Reactor Simulator!

My first home computer I was the board repair center for a PDP-8/E based system and inherited a complete unit in the late '70s, with 2ea 5mb Diablo disk drives in a full 19" rack, and a 500lb CDC line printer (plus the asr33 of course). It pretty well filled up the spare bedroom but was a lot of fun.

After that I was the only Atari repair person at the ill-fated CDC retail computer stores. I used to test units in for repair with extensive game-playing.
