Hi people,
I am new to this forum and hope someone help me with this issue.
The problem SQLSERVERService and SQLAGENT Service are not starting Manually. But when i restart the server it works fine.

Error: The Service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion
Error: Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the MSSQLSERVER service to connect.

SQL SERVER 2000
Windows 2000 server
Log on : Domain Account( has admin privleges to the local machine)
I have checked few KB articles and everything looks fine.

Could anyone help me with this, thanks.

They aren't starting manually??? Why were you trying to start them manually in the first place? This can be a fun one to troubleshoot.

But can you change the account that starts the agents?

Things I might check:-

What you are logged on as. Looking at whether you have the rights to start the services.

Are you stopping/starting the services from Enterprise Manager. Is the server registered here with an ID that has the appropriate access level, again looking at the right to start the services.

I have noticed on a server I look after that the services admin account locks out as well periodically so I'd look at this.

What happens when you try to stop and start the services by logging into the database services and pulling up the services applet from admin tools which is in control panel?
