Hey graz,

How about a new poll? What tools (if any) do you use for db modeling?
Possible answers: Visio, EM, ERWin, Access, modeling?, etc...

I've started working with Visio and it got me wondering about the rest of the people here at sqlteam.

Graph paper and pencils.

Actually, I use Post-It Notes and crayon.

Ya know, there is someone on this forum who may have had to deal with that problem.

You know who you are

Paper and pencils or Whiteboard and markers do well enough for me. One of my (rather eccentric) colleagues has pasted ERDs all over his office walls, I can't bear to sit in his office for more than 5 minutes!

Whiteboards aren't too convenient when the customer wants the diagrams as part of the deliverable.

I'd like to see a poll on how President Bush is handling the budget, the economy and taxes.

Maybe that's another topic ?

Bah! Leave politics out of sqlteam. If we want to start an idealogical debate lets re-examine the surrogate/natural key argument. The economy doesn't have anything on an identity column in your table.

You left out Embarcadero's ER Studio...

ERWin works great...and if you have aplotter, you can wallpaper the office...

Best feature is reverse engineering a db

Or you could alsways the telepathic method....

Plugs right in to a serial port

EDIT: Access?

Put me down for Visio, because that's the tool that was available. Used SystemArchitect once, but not enough to judge it. Hear people talk about ERWin a lot but have never used it.
