Ok I had posted a few days ago regarding the ability to make direct calls from a PC to a direct phone using VOIP. I have put a plan in place and done a bit of work and this seems pretty nifty using a third party tool.

http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=44488

My next question is, what are the possibilities of tying into mapquest via a web application? Does anyone already do this and have some pointers?

Thanks guys...going to bed...will check tomorrow

Night!

Jon

Yes we use mapping in our applications. It's more cost effective to use already established solution, but it's still very, very expensive.

Our applications are Global enterprise solutions, so ads aren't something that we would include with our products. I'm sure with free mapping solutions you don't get the level of support or the regular updating of their database.

I use MapPoint to create my maps for my web apps. They have a web service thing now, but we did it with the old version before the web service exists.

Ok so with mappoint? Do you just pass variables to the url?

Thanks,
Jon

Jon,
I'd probably reccomend tying into the MS webservice for you. We wrote some custom code to perform the map generation that we needed from MapPoint. That's about all I can say about that :)

Ugh, looks like I'm gonna be spending a lot of money :(.
Mike the other thread that I put forth regarding direct connection with a phone. The CrystalVoice solution is great.
If you ever are interested I can send you a page and you can try it out. I went with Crystal Connect which is for smaller end businesses that don't have PBX systems.

I will look more into this mapping strategy and get back to you.

Thanks,

Jon
