| in storing a record related to a time period, a standard approach is needed so that all records are comparible. How would you timestamp data related to a weekly period?A monthly period?how would you then compare the weekly periods with the monthly?..or can you?..currently I timestamp a weekly period with the date of the Saturday (modeled after the standard microsoft outlook calendar as a defacto-standard).currently I timestamp a monthly record with the last day of the month.I dont have much experience with the microsoft analytics server, used to produce a datacube for analysis...but I understand it has sophisticaed 'time dimension' functions that know how to pull all data together for a certain period (day, week, month, quarter, annual, fiscal).....comments? |
