| We have a server that was setup before I was here that is running Win Server 2003 Enterprise, and SQL Server 2005 Enterprise. This server is a dual dual core with 16 GB memory. After doing some auditing I noticed 3GB and AWE was not enabled. So I wrote up a quick report why SQL Server is not even using more than 4GB of memory. And I am implenting a change to get it turned on. While I was writing the report I found myself running into questions myself about the whole thing.I have read all the documentation I can find online. Here are some good places I have found information. So if you want to waste an afternoon, have at them:http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/archive/2004/08/22/218527.aspxhttp://blogs.msdn.com/slavao/archive/2005/11/15/493066.aspxhttp://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/winntas/training/ntarchitectoview/ntarc_7.mspx?mfr=truehttp://episteme.arstechnica.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/99609816/m/2590999945/r/2870972055#2870972055Can anyone recommend any good books that may explain these concepts a little better and maybe how SQL Server does things?- Eric |
