We have a server that was setup before I was here that is running Win Server 2003 Enterprise, and SQL Server 2005 Enterprise. This server is a dual dual core with 16 GB memory. After doing some auditing I noticed 3GB and AWE was not enabled. So I wrote up a quick report why SQL Server is not even using more than 4GB of memory. And I am implenting a change to get it turned on. While I was writing the report I found myself running into questions myself about the whole thing.

I have read all the documentation I can find online. Here are some good places I have found information. So if you want to waste an afternoon, have at them:

Can anyone recommend any good books that may explain these concepts a little better and maybe how SQL Server does things?
