Hello,

I'm trying to use SQL Reporting to Automate a variety of Excel Charts and Graphs we're currently doing by hand. These Charts and Graphs unfortunately utilize some of the more intricate functions of Excel (gap width, horizontal lines across bar charts, cells of text embedded in the charts), and I cannot reproduce them with the level of detail and control I need inside a report I make with Visual Studio. I also noticed the charts and graphs export as mere graphics when saving to an excel file.

So, is there a way to create reports with more powerful charting and graphing capabilities than I am seeing? Might there be a 3rd party software for writing reports supporting such features? Are any of these free? :chuckle: Finally, when exporting to excel if I would like to further modify the chart/graph is there a way to?

As always I appreciate the help.

I am finding more out about the charting and graphing capabilities of SQL Reporting. Apparently Dundas Charts for .NET is used inside of SQL Reporting. Now, I know Dundas has a product called Dundas Charts for .NET that sells for 600-2000$ depending on the version. What level of a version is incorporated into SQL reporting?

Reading the whitepaper of Dundas Charts for .NET at http://www.dundas.com/products/casestudies/CaseStudyMicrosoft.pdf it sounds like the charts can be SO much better. Maybe the samples they provide only show the basic capabilities of the charting function? Ahh this can be quite confusing at times.

On a side note, does anyone have links to some examples of charts and graphs that look better and show off more of the capabilities of SQL reporting?
