We are replacing our ageing Mainframe System with a packaged SQL 2000 Server based system. We are looking at Crystal Reports and Reporting Services as options for our Reporting Requirements. Reporting Services is our preferred root, however we are concerned about the cost of supplying 10 developers with Visual Studio.Net just to be able to create reports. Is it possible to use Reporting Services with any of the Express Versions of VB.Net, C#.Net etc.?Is there an alternative to Visual Studio.Net as the IDE?Thanks for any info./opinions. |

From what I understand, the next release (who knows when, maybe at the end of the year) will provide an stand-alone report designer application for your users. Also, remember to search on-line there may be 3rd party apps out there, since the report definition itself is simply an XML file and easily createable.- Jeff |
