| If I am the only person acessing a db, and I want to improve the performance on a select * from the table, will a table lock do that?Any what about a big INSERT? Can you put a table lock on an insert to improve performance? |

| 1. Let SQL Server manage all of your locks.2. Big INSERT? Use BCP or minimaly logged operation like SELECT * INTO newTable FROM myTable99 +3. Best way to improve performance is indexes+ Don't use SELECT *, list out the columnsMOOBrett8-) |
