I was just reading a doc on SQL , that said that to free up the unused space from the DB , you should use the shrinkdatabase DBCC commnad. ....

I want to knw how to determine how much free unused space is there in a DB

In Enterprise Manager if you do:

Right Click the DB
All tasks
Shrink Database

then the dialog box that pops up shows you the free space. (You can cancel the "Shrink" at that point)

Also run sp_spaceused in Query Analyser to know the space used by the Database
