Hi,We have a client that wants to connect to his SQL Server machine (inside company network) over the internet from a laptop client. We have identified 3 options for this, does anyone have any recommendations for these?Option 1. Standard TCP/IP connection, open up Port 1433, enter SQL Server name in client "hosts" file. Are there issues here concerning sending unencrypted user/password over the Net?Option 2. VPN: What additional software do we have to install on cli/serv and what other networking issues are there? What about single sign on: will SQL Server authenticate the Windows User logged in on the Laptop?Option 3. Microsoft Internet Acceleration Server: is this any good? Also means buying licences, right?Any help greatly appreciated10QChidd |
