| Hi,I was trying to connect to sql server 2005 installed on the same machine. Its saying no vaild server present message even if I enter "local" under server name for server type "database engine". moreover, there are no servers listed under object explorer in SSMS. completely new to this topic. can somebody help me on this...thanks in advance... |

| Did you install a named instance or the default one? In the Services applet in Administrative tools, what service names do you see that start with MSSQL?Tara Kizeraka tduggan |
