| Why do you want to be certified?Yes there are companies that will take your money for this. Are you interested in v2000 or 2005?First thing to do is to get some basic understanding of the product. Get a book which includes a copy (probably day evaluation). You can also install the express version.Do a search in google for sql server training mcdba==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

| Thanks NRI have been given a copy of 2000 and have read through an old book so I have a basic understanding of SQL eg making databases and had a play around with a few of it's other features.I want to get certified as I really want to get into a dba role. Can you suggest any good books I could use for self training? Thanks for your help! |

Get certification if you feel it will increase your knowledge of the subject, but don't count on it being a way to get a job as a DBA. I personally do not give any weight to certification when I consider job candidates.Microsoft Press offers books that are basically the courses that you want to take. You can find them by doing Google searches on the course numbers:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0735619611/ref=pd_lpo_k2a_1_txt/002-8955544-5848807?%5Fencoding=UTF8http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0735619603/ref=pd_sim_b_1/002-8955544-5848807?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=283155CODO ERGO SUM |
