I'm trying to install SQL 2000 to my computer for the Java class I'm taking and I'm running into a snag. I get to the point where you need to select local or domain, everything that I have been reading says to select domain. The User Name field auto pops but then you need to enter a password. Where is this password coming from? I do not log in with a password so I cannot figure this one out. Can someone help me out with this one?

well you use a domain if you're in a domain.
if you're in a domain use your domain accounts username and password
if you're not then use local.

Is there a way to change the user name and password, becuase right now they are both populated and the password field of course is **** is I have no idea what is in there. Like I said please forgive me I have never used SQL before.

what kind of authentication did you use sql servers or NT?
if sql servers then you have to specify the username and password you typed there.
if NT then you have to use your accounts username and password.

I'm going to assume that it is NT just because it says on NT, so when you say use the account user name and password would that be set in the control panel under account users. Which one is the better of the two to use and is it easy to change?
