| I have two tables with names in them that I would like to match. Problem is, the names could be slightly differnet ie:St. Joseph Day SchoolST Joseph Day SchoolIs there a way to macch these sort-of-like fields?Thanx |

| Not easily.You can use soundex but usually you have to define rules yourself for what you think the match should be.where lower(replace(fld,'.','')) = lower(replace(fld,'.',''))would take care of what you have there but there's lots of other things.You could get some postcode/zipcode software and work off that to standardise your addresses.It's quite a common problem.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |
