sql server does not exist or access denied

sql server does not exist or access denied

i have installed sql on a server that has windows 2000 on.
the xp machines can connect to sql, but the 98 and 2000 machines can not. the 98 and 2000 can connect to the server but not to sql

any suggustions?

Which SQL Server edition you installed on server machine? on XP machine? and on 98 and 2000 machine? What is the OS of server machine? Windows 2000 server or Professional?

Sql Server 2000 MSDE.
The server is running Windows 2000 Professional.
