No. You have to use datetime data type

Are you from the DB2 World?

SQL2k5 promoted date and time only datatypes, but backed out at the last minute....to much work I suppose to convert all of their datettime functions...what a pity

BUT that doesn't mean you can't work around it

If you want to display data at front end, you can easily drop time part using FORMAT function
