Backup will not backup to your local path. In your case, the backup actually is created in the local drive of your Server in your ISP KH |

| That's handy! What's the best way to bring data down over the web from an ISP?I tried the Publishing Wizard, it worked but was very slow, maybe just bulk insert queries into a local db? |

| Both, I really need to automate it, but at the moment I'm trying to get the app live, so I'd really like a way of getting a data snapshot so I can "rewind" if some of the bulk data-changing processes I'm testing go wrong. |

Backup to a location on the ISP's server to which you have FTP permissions, and then FTP the backup file down to your PCIn my experience ISPs with shared SQL hosting are often unhelpful in this regard Kristen |

| I see there are these utilities for doing this like bcp. If you were restricted away from the backup, which would you use for taking data down off the web? |

| On my Local Server I would try to create a Linked Server to the ISP's Server, and then use DTS - or probably a more fancy query that just pulled down the "New & Changed" recordsKristen |
