so you mean we don't have any Directive in SqlServer2000 T-Sql codes
By the way what do you mean by HINTS. if i'm not mistaken...
hints are some thing like following .am i right?

Select * From Table1 WITH(TableLock)

Yes, there are "compiler hints"... lookup the SET statement... SET ARITH_ABORT ON, SET ANSI_NULLS ON, etc, etc.
