look for errors in the nt event log and/or SQLAGENT.OUT a common reason for this is that the agent service is not able to connect to the sql instance because of perms issues.

| Did you remove builtin\administrators from sysadmin? If so, did you add 'nt authority\system' in sysadmin? |
