I'm researching an update statement that is taking a longer time to run in production than one of our test environments. CPU time is very similar, but elapsed time is significantly longer in production than in TST. I'm trying to gather client statistics in both environments. It works successfully in TST, but for production I get no information. Anyone have ideas on this? Thanks.

Does your prod table have more data (significantly higher as in millions vs thousands) compared to your test machine? Are the indexes up to date on the prod ? Also while you are running the update is the prod server live?

The test environment is a copy of PRD from last night. Indexes are up to date. The prd server is live.

Perhaps the activity on the prod server is contributing the longer execution time for this UPDATE? Also how do the execution times compare? You have not provided those details. Are we talking about a few milli sec's difference or is it into minutes?

Execution time in TST:

SQL Server Execution Times:
CPU time = 0 ms, elapsed time = 0 ms.

Execution time in PRD:

SQL Server Execution Times:
CPU time = 0 ms, elapsed time = 100161 ms.

I believe you are correct in assuming that the production activity is contributing to the longer elapsed times. My main question really is why I'm not seeing any values when I trace client statistics.

You should worry about the CPU time. The elapsed time varies depending on the load.
