If the log shipped database is in read-only/standby mode, then yes you can take a backup of it.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |

Log shipping should not be impacted as you are only performing a full backup.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |

Thanx Brother,I will try tomorrow. I will create a job for taking full dump of DB which will run on particular time. And also will check whether it impact to Logshipping .As I was under impression by Our DBA, he said while taking full dump of Logshipping server u have to stop TXN_ Log Shipping.Dina Satam |

I am not male, so brother does not apply.Like I said, the log shipped database must in a specific mode in order for you to run a backup on it. If the DBA did not set it up to be in standby mode, then this will not work. So you need to verify what mode the DBA used.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |

I think Kristen gets a kick out of it, otherwise he'd update his profile to include that info. As for me, I think that people just don't expect females working in the IT industry, especially as a DBA.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |

Yea, I'm sure he does.I've been a SQL DBA at three different companines (in KY, KS, and TN) and at all three there has been least one female DBA. Maybe you should bold and increase the font on your first name in your signature. hehe |

I actually know a male with the same name. Same pronunciation at least. He spelled it Terrah though.Tara KizerMicrosoft MVP for Windows Server System - SQL Serverhttp://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |
