Hi,

I need to move a sql server db to a new server. I have created the new db.

Every night we do a complete backup of the old db - db1.bak. I restored this backup on the new server and all worked well and the info looks current.

If i restore from the old backup which is a 'complete' backup...straight after it is created - will i have all the data in the db. I see a backup of the transaction log there as well but surely all i need to do is use the complete db backup. No users will have touched the db for about 4 hours before the backup is ran.

Thanks for any help.

You may want to restore the log backups as well to make sure you pick up most of the changes.
