| I recently received a VAIO laptop and i realized soon after that 3 sql server configuration tools were available in the start menu.The three are configuration manager,error and usage report and surface area configuration. I ignored this for a while until i needed to install vb.net 2005 and consequently sql server 2005.I tried installing it but i was told that i dont have any components needed to be installed.Anyways, I decided to uninstall what was already on the system so I can do a fresh reinstallation. I was told that 2 sql server 2005 instances were available for being uninstalled and I had to chose one since the option was in a radio box.The options were sqlexpress database engine and vaio_vedb database engine.I was told by someone to uninstall the sqlexpress one and i did.i was able to install 2005 on my system after.when i started it up, the only server available for me to connect to was the vaio_vedb.I connected but i was unable to create a db,attach a db and restore a db. I tried uninstalling again and vaio_vedb was the only instance available.I uninstalled but this time i was unable to connect to a server period.I looked about the cd for an option to install an instance but was unable to find such an option.I use system restore to carry me back to the front.The only thing i have not tried is to uninstall the vaio_vedb first.I dont want to do that because i do not know why it is on the machine in the first place.I am currently downloading ssmse.does anyone have a solution to this problem?The sky aint the limit for me.....I dont have any!!! |

| OK , so i have managed to install ssmsee and i can start the application but i can not connect to any servers.I am told this because i can use connect through a remote connection.i go into surface area and config to change this but it will not take place until the service is restarted.i can not start the service until i have admin rights. I can not give myself admin rights because under the default settings...remote conection is not allowed. Any ideas people?The sky aint the limit for me.....I dont have any!!! |
