Hi I've got a weekly full backup going on a database and then nightly differential backups. This is working smoothly via a JobThe question I have is , if someone comes along and does a full backup , would this break the Differential sequence? My understanding is the Full backup would be a snapshot. But would it then indicate to the next differential that it should only take take the differential from the last random Backup or would it continue taking the differential from the last differential?Jack Vamvas--------------------Search IT jobs from multiple sources- http://www.ITjobfeed.com |

The differential would only get the delta from the most last full backup whether it was done by you or "someone else"..Dinakar Nethi************************Life is short. Enjoy it.************************http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/dinakar/ |

Thanks Dinakar - the problem I'm experiencing is that the BackUp cycle is being broken by people making ad-hoc full backups. Therefore I need to impose a policy that restricts developers making full backupsJack Vamvas--------------------Search IT jobs from multiple sources- http://www.ITjobfeed.com |
