gurus, how can i register a SQL2K5 server in SQL 2K? the 2K5 server is in the lists of available servers in SQL Server Wizard, buterrors like "General Network Error" and "SQL Server does not exists" appear, but i registered the 2K to 2K5 successfully.i tried both windows and sql authentication but still fails. thanks in advance |

You can't register 2005 in 2000. but it works opposite. |

i see, thanks... does it means that i can't create partition views from 2K and 2K5? also i can't create a cross-linked queries in 2K referencing to 2K5 databases? is upgrading the 2K to 2K5 the only solution? |

Are you talking about creating linked server or registering sql2k5 in em? |

i think im concerned on both issues... but registering in em seems not possible. but how can i add the 2K5 as a linked server in 2K? |

Yes you can add 2005 as linked server in 2000.Did you try with GUI? Show us what you done so we can better assist you. |
