Hi, I'm configuring a maintenance plan for my SQL Server 2005. Is the order of things important here? I can't seem to find any best practices for this anywhere.Obscurr

Is it for instance important to rebuild index before update statistics? Should shrinking the database be the first thing to do in a maintenance plan? Or is the order of when to do what totally irrelevant?obscurr

1) Rebuilding index will automatically update stats but not in case with reorganizing index.2)Don't shrink you database. It will shuffle your datapages and index pages big time.
