hello everybody,

I just installed both SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 from a CD that a friend of mine gave to me.
In fact, the version is SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, and I just installed it on my Home PC.

the problem is that, when I want to enter the Management Studio, it prompts me for a password (something like connecting to some server)

Someone told me that I could have done some mistake through the installation steps.

Had anyone had this kind of experience before ?
I really need some help!
thnx a lot!

If I only could.....

What password did you use for the SA account when installing?

E 12°55'05.25"
N 56°04'39.16"

My OS is Windows XP Pro sp2.

When I want to enter the Management Studio it asks for a server connection. And if I select the Win. Authentication it waits for an user & pass to be entered.

Can it be a mistake during the installation,...meaning that...there comes a moment during the installation where I (the user) have to chose between the "domain account" or "local account". Naturally I ticked "local account", but I've also left ticked the optional box telling about "prompt me for username and password when I logon"...

Can this be considered as an optional mistake ???

Sql will not ask for id/pwd if you choose windows authentication. Did you see sql service on the machine by the way?
