Whats the best way in 2005 do trace where a bottleneck is occuring and on which tables. Im not running SP, Inline SQL. Never done any analysis before, looked at profiler but I'll be damned if it makes any sense to a degree or what to do with it..

What can I do to look for things that take a long time to process or to improve performance. We have a lot of data, so naturally things are going to be slow and the quieries are not written in the best manner but doubt they will change either

So how can I identify if something is just taking that long to run natually or just badly written and needs changing.

I hope you get the gist of this ramble...

Thanx in advance..

Trace in profiler or monitor with thirdparty tools.
