Hello (this is my first post so I thought I should at least great everyone)

I am working on getting a home SQL server up so I can play around with the new webobjects. The only problem is I have no clue what I am doing. The server I have now is running Windows Server 2008 and I installed a developer copy of SQL Server 2005. On my laptop when I try to connect to the server via WINSQL I get the server does not exsist or blocked msg..

1. Do I have to open up some ports on the SQL Server to be able to connect to it?

2. Non related question... How come SQL Server does not show up as a service in 2008?

SOrry for the double post but firewall permissions were not set which was causing the problem.
