Only Express Edition and Developer Edition will install in Vista Home Edition.
Make sure you also install SP2.

but I see this in the microsoft site at the below url.(no mention of windows vista).
url:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=cb34fff7-b2c1-4f5b-9b4f-f355a2ed87dc&DisplayLang=en&hash=DqyZAY8aoGtNR3MU4heq%2b0flOgl6pMvZUfW%2fDWTG1vHjrt7dfROWvu3BiXvLVZ1Nv9C%2bv27%2bXsoUkx8tDys2Ig%3d%3d

basically it says:
System Requirements
• Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4; Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1; Windows XP Service Pack 2
• 32-bit systems
o Computer with Intel or compatible Pentium III 600 MHz or faster processor (1 GHz or faster is recommended.)
• 64-bit systems
o 1 GHz or higher processor
• Minimum of 512 MB of RAM (1 GB or more is recommended.)
• 675 MB of available hard disk space

Can you please clarify.
Thanks..

Good luck on installing sqlserver 2005 on vista. Vista also has problem uninstalling sql server 2005...
.

I suggest you to also get a virtual server trail with 2003 on it. Install sql server 2005 on it. Much cleaner.

Developer Edition has everything Enterprise has, and cost about $50 to buy.
No need to install evaluation version.
