| Hi everyone:) I've just installed sql server for the first time and i don't know how to get or make my details to connect to the server. I didn't see anything regarding the setup of a log in during installation. I'm using vista, any help would be greatly appreciated:) |

| All i want to do is make my own database. My assignment is to make a database from a given erd diagram. When i open 2005 i get prompted with a log in saying server name etc and no matter. For 1 i don't kn ow the server name, i don't think i have a server? I tried closing the log in and going straight to doing my assignment but the prompt continually comesu p saying i need to conncet to a server. |

| Did you reboot your computer after installation and sps? Put your hostname in servername . |

| Didn't you see your computer's name while installing? Right click Mycomputer and see your desktop name.Put it in servername and connect. |
