Dear All,
we are planning to change the sql server 2005 server into windows authentication mode. we have around 300 users.
1)can i make them a group?
2)if so, i'l create a role named myrole with the previleges read, write, and execute sp permissions.
3) i'd like to assign the rule to the group. so that i can get more secured environment.

please correct me where ever i was wrong, and provide me guidance to do this

This should help....

-Configure SQL Server to use Windows authentication mode

-group users into different global groups in the domain

-Consolidate these global groups from all the trusted domains into the Windows NT/2000 local groups in your SQL Server computer

-The Windows local groups are then granted access to log into the SQL Server

-Add these Windows NT/2000 local groups to the required fixed server roles in SQL Server

-Associate these local group logins with individual user accounts in the databases and grant them the required permissions using the database roles

-Create custom database roles if required, for finer control over permissions

SQL Server 2005 IS always configured to use Windows authentication mode - isn't it?

You use windows auth if possible, but you can use SQL logins (they are mainly used for legacy apps which dont support windows authentication)
